What Council Does | Youth Coordinator | Youth Policy

Youth Policy...

The Napier City Council has a Policy for Young People, which was re-developed and adopted in 2004. The Policy includes the Council's vision for its youth, and the objectives needed for putting this vision into action. Basically the Policy can be broken down into six key themes:

Wellbeing... developing your knowledge basket, making young people feel cool inside, helping you take care of yourself, promoting whanau and friends.

Involvement... giving you a chance to have your say, representing young people's needs in Council.

Diversity... showing off the variety of talents in our community, to see young people as diverse, to help people have a better understanding of other cultures.

Being Informed... to keep you up to date with what's on, where to go, and who to call.

Safe & Secure... make sure you have fun but stay safe as well, provide choices for young people, help make Napier a safe place to hang out.

Participation & Connection... to get you guys involved, make sure young people take part in our city.

There are lots of ways the Council is going to get this policy happening, so please give us a call if you're keen to jump on board, or got some good ideas. We sure could use em!
