About Us » What Council Does
The Napier City Council has a variety of departments that provide city services, and almost 500 employees! The Council wants to make Napier a cool place to live, and how they are going to do this is included in its Long Term Plan.
The Council hopes to provide the community with cost effective infrastructure (such as roads, rubbish, and so on).
They also want to make sure Napier has lots of character and culture, like arts, music, theatre, and other attractions.
The Council is also interested in looking after our environment to make sure future generations get to use it, and enjoy a clean and safe place to live.
Economic growth means the Council will help to develop jobs and support local business plus key services, and make sure Napier is visited by plenty of tourists (because they spend money).
The Council is also trying to make Napier safe for everyone to enjoy.
How all these aims get put into action is through the different departments.
If you want to know more about what these departments do, you can log on to www.napier.govt.nz or contact the Council on (06) 835 7579.
